Happy Saturday!! Hope you all had an amazing week! Today, I have a review of the OPI Spring 2020 Mexico City Collection! I was sent this collection by Beyond Polish for review, and I’m completely obsessed! There are 12 polishes in the collection, so let’s check ’em out!
Mexico City Move-Mint
‘Mexico City Move-Mint’ is described as a “soft, understated green.” It definitely leaned more blue than green in my opinion. It reminded me of Essie ‘Borrowed & Blue,’ which is one of my fave Essie polishes ever! The formula on this polish was not the best; it was pretty streaky. I applied 3 coats plus topcoat.
Mural Mural on the Wall
‘Mural Mural on the Wall’ is a fun and unique polish with flecks of coral confetti. This is 3 coats plus topcoat. This polish is so pretty, and looked so much better in real life than it does in my photo. Some polishes are so hard to capture in a photo.
Don’t Tell a Sol
You all know I love yellow polish, and this is no exception! ‘Don’t Tell a Sol’ is absolutely stunning and so bright. This is 3 coats plus topcoat.
Hue is the Artist?
I was so excited to swatch this polish! This is ‘Hue is the Artist,’ a “neutral pale lavender.” This is another polish that was difficult to apply due to streaking, so I recommend that you apply the polish in very thin coats. This took me 3 – 4 coats to reach opacity, but I love the color! It definitely looked more gray than lavender.
Verde Nice to Meet You
This is my fave!! ‘Verde Nice to Meet You’ is a beautiful turquoise. I did 3 coats plus topcoat here. The formula is nice to work with. Definitely a must have!
Mi Casa es Blue Casa
Another must have from the collection!! ‘Mi Casa es Blue Casa’ is such a bright, gorgeous blue! This had an amazing formula. I did 2 coats for this photo.
My Chihuahua Doesn’t Bite Anymore
The name of this polish though!!! Lol! I love it! ‘My Chihuahua Doesn’t Bite Anymore’ is a stunning red-orange. This is 2 coats plus topcoat. Another great formula!
Coral-ing Your Animal Spirit
Love, love, love this one! This is 3 coats of ‘Coral-ing Your Spirit Animal,’ a pretty warm coral. The formula on this was nice and smooth, so even though it required 3 coats, it was an easy 3 coats.
Viva OPI
‘Viva OPI’ is a stunning “vibrant red” polish that has a great formula. This is 2 coats plus topcoat. This will be pretty for summertime due to its warm tones!
Mariachi Makes My Day
‘Mariachi Makes My Day’ applied very similarly to ‘Mi Casa es Blue Casa.’ Very nice formula. 2 coats plus topcoat. Beautiful, vibrant purple!
Telenovela Me About It
Loving this pink! ‘Telenovela Me About It’ is a fun pink with a slight shimmer. This applies very sheer on the first coat, but builds up nicely with 3 coats.
Suzi’s Slinging Mezcal
‘Suzi’s Slinging Mezcal’ is a beautiful warm gold polish. This formula was really nice. This is 2 coats plus topcoat.
Final Thoughts?
Overall, I thought the colors of this collection were just what I needed to brighten up the end of Winter. I love that they incorporated such a wide variety of colors from pastels to vibrant and bright polishes. I do wish some of the formulas of the pastels were a little nicer. I feel like a lot of companies are starting to make pastels with more opaque formulas, and just wish these were a little less streaky. That’s all.
Which polishes are you going to pick up? What collection would you like to see next?
