The only 3 polishes I did not compare are: Leonardo’s Model Color, OPI Nails the Runway and This Color Hits all the High Notes. I have no polishes that compare to those 3, so I have no comparisons. 🙂
Complimentary Wine
‘Complimentary Wine’ is an absolute gorgeous 3 coater burgundy. When I originally swatched it, I immediately thought of Essie ‘Wicked,’ however, it is a few shades lighter than ‘Wicked.’ I then thought ‘Carry On’ or ‘Velvet Voyage’ had to be close dupes if ‘Wicked’ was too dark, but when swatched next to ‘Complimentary Wine,’ both were more purple. That brought me to compare the following polishes with more berry tones…
Nope…no dupes. Essie ‘Bordeaux’ and ‘Berry Naughty’ were more…berry. Surprisingly, no dupes to this stunning burgundy! If you get this one, make sure to top it with a matte topcoat!! You will love it!!
Suzi Talks with her Hands
Ok, were Orly and OPI working together on this color, because these two are suuuuuuuuper close to being dupes. I’m not complaining because ‘Sagebrush’ was one of the standouts from the Orly Fall Collection!! If you look close enough, you can see some slight differences, but nobody would even know there were different colors on your nails if you accidentally mix and matched them.Â
Above, we have a few more polishes that I thought may be similar, but Essie ‘Serene Slate’ and ‘Now & Zen’ both had different tones.
Duomo Days, Isola Nights
How is it that so many blue polishes exist in this world, and almost no two are alike?!? I was pretty sure ‘Duomo…’ would either be pretty close to Essie ‘Style Cartel’ or ‘Bobbing for Baubles.’ I was wrong…again. Most of the blues I compared were too dark, or not the right tone of blue. Anybody else have a possible dupe for this?
Drama at La Scala
Teal…it’s such a fun color to wear on the nails!! I KNOW OPI has a dupe for this polish, but I only compared Essie polishes to it (because I primarily own Essie). If you want to be super technical, there was only one polish in this group that was a close dupe to ‘Drama at La Scala.’ That polish is ‘Go Overboard,’ gifted to me by the amazing @curlycomedynailart. The other polishes were either too dark or too green. What OPI teals do you have that compare to this one?
My Italian is a Little Rusty
Anytime I see a polish that is a rusty color like this, I immediately want to compare it to Essie ‘Playing Koi.’ You can see above that ‘Koi’ leans more red toned though. I also wanted to see how it compared to ‘Canyon Clay’ from the new Fall Orly Collection, but ‘Canyon’ is more brown.
Have Your Panettone & Eat it Too
Love, love, love this gorgeous orange. I did not have any exact dupes for this polish, but I do think Essie ‘Strong at 1%’ from the Expressie Collection is very close!! The other polishes are either brighter or more brown.
Addio Bad Nails, Ciao Great Nails
So I mentioned in my video that I thought this polish was Essie ‘Bangle Jangle,’ but a few shades darker…and with shimmer. I would say it’s definitely more than a few shades darker…like closer to 5 shades darker! The other two polishes here are a bit more warm toned than ‘Addio…’ Again…no dupes!
Galleria Vittorio Violet
Purples are definitely a color that OPI does SOOO well!!! I was super excited to see which polishes compared to this one, but I did not find any exact dupes. I’d say the closest was ‘Love or Lust’er’ from the Neo Pearl Collection, but it is a bit darker. Otherwise, no dupes here!!
Fall-ing For Milan
Crooked picture much?!? Lol. I was definitely right about the fact that I have absolutely nothing that compares to ‘Fall-ing for Milan.’ The gold shimmer that is very visible on the nail makes this polish stand out!! You can see above that Essie ‘Mochacino’ is cooler toned, while ‘Teacup Half Full’ is a warmer…almost copper…tone.
Final Thoughts?
Most of you have already told me which polish is your fave from this collection for the giveaway. Most of you also told me that you can’t pick just one! I feel the same. The OPI Fall 2020 Collection is an absolute must have for any fall polish lover!!
