Fall just started, but the nail polish world is ready for Winter. The new Opi Winter 2023 “Terribly Nice” Collection is now available at Beyond Polish. This collection is a 14 piece collection “inspired by duality. These bold and sexy to cheerful and playful shades will have you feeling twice as nice and ready for some festive fun and mischief. No need to check the list twice – this collection has something for everyone naughty and nice!” So, which one are you, naughty or nice?Let’s take a look at the shades. Keep scrolling for swatch photos or watch the video below for live swatches and comparisons. *All links are affiliate links from which I earn a small commission. Chill ’em with Kindness
First up, is ‘Chill ’em with Kindness.’ The Opi website says, “One thing’s for sure, everyone will wanna bundle up with hue this holiday season. This winter white nail polish with a shimmery lilac effect will leave ’em frozen in awe.” I really like the color of this polish, but I had some issues with the formula. The swatch photo shown above is 3-4 coats. You can see on my ring and pinky finger that this definitely needs 4 coats for full opacity. ‘Chill ’em with Kindness’ is one of my least faves from this collection.
Blame the Mistletoe
‘Blame the Mistletoe’ is definitely one of my favorite polishes from this collection, and I feel like it’s the perfect color to wear year round. The Opi website says “Spotted: you making out with serious color at every holiday party. Looks like what happens under the mistletoe doesn’t stay under the mistletoe. Bring on kissmass with a shimmery fuchsia nail polish that’ll have everyone wanting in on the action.” I’d say this is definitely a naughty polish after reading that description. LOL! It definitely looks nice on the nail though. This beauty is an easy 2 coater that applies like butter!
Hot Toddy Naughty
‘Hot Toddy Naughty’ is another fave from this collection. The Opi website says, “Drink it awe in this holiday season and pour yourself a naughty brown shimmer nail polish that’s top-shelf shine and down for a good time. And who knows where the day or night will take ya, but at least your mani will make ya brrrr-azen beyond belief.” This is an easy 2 coater and I think this is one of my new fave brown polishes. Check out my other fave brown nail polishes here.
Shaking my Sugarplums
‘Shaking my Sugarplums’ definitely sounds like it’s one of the naughty polishes from this collection. The Opi website says, “Put visions of you dancing in their heads with this vivid fa-la-la lavender nail polish. Its metallic effect is a lil sweet, a lil baddie, but full-on attention-grabbing. Get out there and show ’em how you groove to the beat of your own stun. The time is (s)now.” I was worried this was going to be a bit sheer after the first coat, but it built up pretty well in two coats. Some of you may prefer an additional coat for some patchiness, but I only noticed it on one nail. Overall, I really like this polish and love the shimmer for winter.
Let’s Scrooge
Another fave from this collection, this is ‘Let’s Scrooge.’ The Opi website says, “There’s no time like the present to let loose and scrooge. Meet a shimmery teal nail polish that’s bah hum-fun. Equal parts playful and provocative for the ultimate season of stun. In fact, it’s sooo good, you’ll wanna bring it home for the holidays just to see what sorta trouble you can get in together.” Now THAT sounds like a naughty description to me. Lol. The name definitely sounds naughty as well. I love how the shimmer layers nicely with each coat of this polish. I did two coats in the swatch photo above, and loved how this applied.
Sickeningly Sweet
‘Sickeningly Sweet’ is a deep lavender creme which can be a unique shade for a winter collection. I personally enjoy shades like this in the winter because it’s easy to create a “cool” manicure. I especially love adding snowflakes to shades like this to really get me ready for Winter. The Opi website says, “Tease the season that’s full of sweets. And we’re not just talkin’ about that dessert table at your office holiday party (though we fully support going back for seconds). Our focus is on your mani. This deep lavender crème nail polish is bittersweet and will nail any look. It’s sugar, spice, and everything nice.” This is another two coater with a fabulous formula.
Rebel with a Clause
‘Rebel with a Clause’ is my new favorite red. This is a super, super easy one coat wonder that practically paints itself!! The Opi website says, “Dashin’ through the whoa. You know how the story goes. Turns out Santa isn’t the only one who can rock red, and not just any red, but that punk-rock-meets-jolly sorta red that you just gotta see to believe. This classic red crème nail polish is on the top of everyone’s holiday list. Present company included.” Go get this one right now. It’s a must have!!
Peppermint Bark & Bite
‘Peppermint Bark & Bite’ is another gorgeous shimmer from this collection. The shimmer in this polish is similar to the shimmer in ‘Let’s Scrooge.’ It dances on the nail! The Opi website says, “A sugar rush with major bite. This shimmery forest green nail polish shade is a major food group this holiday season. Bake it or leave it. It’s totally mint to make jaws drop. And hey, it might land you on the naughty AND nice list.” This beauty was opaque in two easy coats and looks beautiful on the nail.
Salty Sweet Nothings
‘Salty Sweet Nothings’ is an unexpected fave from this collection. The Opi website says, “Pssst. We’re bursting at the sheens over a guilty little secret. This fierce gold metallic and cream nail polish shade is salty, sweet, and everything in between. Talk about the best of both worlds. Now have at it. What’s shine is yours this holiday season.” The description for this polish is quite interesting. It says this is a “fierce gold metallic and cream.” I wouldn’t describe this as a gold. It’s more of a rose gold. I also find it interesting that it is described as a metallic and cream. This is a two coater that I love on the nails.
It’s a Wonderful Spice
Ewww. Not a fan of this one. The Opi website calls ‘It’s a Wonderful Spice’ a “metallic rose gold,” but I would say it’s more of a coral with gold glitter. The full description on the website says, “Winter can be dull, but dull is not our style. Add a little spice to the season with this metallic gold nail polish. Think of this shade as your partner in shine–it’s ready to liven up every holiday party. The best is yet to stun. Do it for the glam.” It does have a nice formula and is opaque in two coats. That’s about the only good thing I can find about this one. Lol. I’m sure it will look fab on some of you, but I’m not a fan.
Five Golden Flings
‘Five Golden Flings’ is a “metallic gold nail polish yule wanna flirt with.” This has the exact same formula as ‘It’s a Wonderful Spice.’ I’m not a fan of the base of this polish. It seems like it’s a little “Fall” leaning and grungy. When I filmed my live swatch, I noticed some red shimmer in this, so maybe that’s what makes this “wintery?” Shrugs shoulders.
Put on Something Ice
‘Put on Something Nice’ is NICE!! I love this one. The Opi website says, “Play it coooool and impress friends, fam, and secret Santas by slipping into something sparkly. This lilac nail polish will give ’em a stun for their money. Drip nails in flecks of iridescent glitter for a nail polish look that’s fancy and full of season’s gleamings.” I did two coats for the swatch photo above. I do think this leans a bit more blue than lilac.
Hot & Coaled
‘Hot & Coaled’ is a party on the nails and I’m here for it. The Opi website says, “We made that list and checked it twice. Turns out you can be naughty and nice. Best news ever. So you officially have free rein to turn up the heat while being, ya know, totally chill, in this black multicolored glitter nail polish. But a shade this good deserves to be shared. Go out and paint the town. Merry mani to all and to awe a good night.” The formula on this one is similar to ‘Put on Something Nice,” but maybe a bit thicker. I do feel like it may get too thick to use after a few years, but it’s worth it. I did two coats and I’m loving it.
Yay or Neigh
I would say this polish is a “neigh” for me in the Winter, but I would love it in the fall. ‘Yay or Neigh’ is a gray and gold metallic with a formula similar to ‘It’s a Wonderful Spice’ and ‘Five Golden Flings.’ Easy to apply and opaque in two coats.
Final Thoughts?
So what are your thoughts on the new Opi Winter 2023 “Terribly Nice” Collection? I’m a fan of these. Overall, Opi has had a rough year. I feel that a lot of the recent Opi releases have not had the best formulas. They have been more sheer and less refined in the last few releases. After this collection, I feel like Opi is on the right track. Hopefully they continue to improve. After all, they have been around for a looooong time. We count on Opi to always have fab polishes.

I can see myself buying about six of these. I found them on a couple of swedish sites. I am curious, when you have absolutely no idea what you want to put on your nails what is your go-to back up nail polish?

Hey Jennifer! I’m so glad there are a few here that you like! As far as my go-to polish, right now it’s any brown or navy blue nail polish. I love wearing those colors in the fall!!
