The new Opi Summer “Make the Rules” Collection is a 12 piece collection of gorgeous finishes. There are some gorgeous pearls as well as creams to get your summer started. The Opi website says, “Let your nails be as bright, bold and carefree as you feel this summer.” Let’s get right into these beautiful shades. Be sure to read or watch my review of the formulas because there are a few polishes in this collection that have a difficult formula.

Sunscreening My Calls
Let’s start off with one of the pearls from the collection since they seem to be quite controversial. People either love them or hate them. I’m loving the pearls from this collection because they dry matte and it gives them a velvety finish. From the Opi website, “New color, who dis? Let’s face it, everyone wants your digits. So play hard to get in a pearly pastel nail polish that only takes whoa for an answer. Or dial up the brightness and say yellow to color that stuns in the sun and beyond.” This beautiful pastel yellow pearl is opaque in in three easy coats. I’m a huge fan of this beauty. It dries matte and fast.
Skate to the Party
Next up is one of the creams from the collection. This is ‘Skate to the Party,’ a gorgeous purple. The Opi website says, “Who cares if you’re stunning a bit late. Just roll with it and make that jaw-droppin’ entrance everyone will be talking about. Because being this extra doesn’t need an excuse. The party truly starts when you (and this bright violet crème nail polish) arrive. Being fashionably grape never looked so good. Don’t show up empty-handed. Our entire entourage from the #OPISummerMakeTheRules collection knows how to rage. And then some.” ‘Skate to the Party’ is a super bright purple that I would call a true neon purple. This beauty is opaque in 2-3 easy coats.
Charge it to their Room
‘Charge it to their Room’ is a deep periwinkle cream and is an easy two coater. This polish does dry matte, so apply a glossy topcoat if you want a glossy finish. The Opi website says, “Lookin’ like a snack? That’s you. 24/7. So kick back, relax, and let others pick up the tab. If you play your cards right, you’ll be cashing in BIG time thanks to this deep periwinkle crème nail polish. So what are you waiting for? Sanding in Stilletos
‘Sanding in Stilletos’ is one of the three coaters from the collection. This polish looked absolutely awful on me in 1-2 coats, but that third coat transformed the look of this beauty. The Opi website says, “The world is at your feet. Go tall out. It’s totally time to ditch the barefeet for a major lift so you can strut for the world to see. No ifs, sands, or buts about it. Jaws will drop when they catch this pearl nude nail polish in relaxin’ action. Did someone say ‘total bombshell’? Bikini Boardroom
‘Bikini Boardroom’ is one of my faves from this collection. It is a stunner and is opaque in 2 easy coats. The Opi website says, “What’s on the agenda besides hue? Equal parts business and pleasure, swimsuit up in this pearl lavender nail polish that commands everyone’s attention. You’ve just beached full potential. Surf Naked
‘Surf Naked’ is another fave from this collection. I love blue polish and this one glows on your nails. It is opaque in two coats and dries matte. The Opi website says, “Just give it a sky. You know you want to. Experience first-hand how gooooood it feels to catch that epic color wave and stun free. There’s nothin’ quite like it. That goes for you and this sky blue pearl nail polish. Stay Out All Bright
‘Stay Out All Bright’ was my least fave from this collection. The formula is horrible. I would say it’s a 3-4 coater, and it’s not an easy 3-4 coater. The Opi website says, “Your life’s motto: glow big and don’t go home. And we’re awe about it. Meet up with a creamy, bold color that stays put so you can stay out. Talk about a good friend. Where will the bright take ya? One thing’s for sure…you’ll be partying til dawn in this vivid yellow crème nail polish. Summer Monday-Fridays
‘Summer Monday-Fridays’ is a really pretty bright green that is opaque in 3 coats. I really like this tone of green! The Opi website says, “A bright green crème nail polish that’s all werk, all play. You hustle hard. Now it’s time to turn that go go go into whoa whoa whoa. No need to watch that clock, just close your computer and enjoy your play while rockin’ this bright green crème nail polish. I Quit My Day Job
Did I say the yellow was my least fave? I meant to say the yellow and these two pinks are my least faves. This pink and the next one have terrible formulas. You can definitely find another pink out there that is better than this one! The Opi website says, “Put in your notice and immediately get noticed like it’s your job, because you’ll be bossy overtime in bubblegum pink crème nail polish. This take-charge color doesn’t clock out and gives you the type of benefits you’ll actually wanna brag to all your friends (and even strangers) about. Here’s to officially starting your yay job. Makeout-Side
See all of my above statements to know what I think about this one. Lol. The Opi website says, “You know the feeling where you can’t keep your hands off each other? Now times that by ten. Flex on the Beach
‘Flex on the Beach’ is a gorgeous coral, but I had some issues with the formula. This was still patchy after three coats. The Opi website says, “Tropic like it’s hot and heat things up as you do. You were born to make bold moves. Now you just need a partner in shine to take it to the beach. One swipe and you’ll be soooo hooked on this bold coral crème nail polish with major flex appeal. I’m Yacht Leaving
‘I’m Yacht Leaving’ is one of the creams that I’m a fan of. It’s a 3 coater that is easy to apply and dries matte. The Opi website says, “Life’s short. Seas the moment. Take that vacay and then maybe, just maybe, extend it by a few days or a week. Whatever floats your boat, bright? But now it’s time to board this electric turquoise crème nail polish and not look back. Ships about to get real colorful up in here. Just the way we like it. Final Thoughts
So, what are your thoughts on the new Opi Summer ‘Make the Rules’ Collection? I think all of the polishes are beautiful colors, but you have to be careful which ones you choose due to the formulas. The swatches can look deceivingly pretty if you don’t know how they apply!
