It’s all over Instagram, but where can I actually buy it?
Essie Expressie is the new “quick dry” polish by Essie. It’s been all over social media, and everyone is asking, “Where can I find these?” I found mine at Walgreens and Fred Meyer in the Seattle area. Not all Walgreens carry these in store, so check the Walgreens website to see if any stores near you carry them before venturing out. I have also seen these on Target’s website as well as on Ulta.com, Amazon, and Walmart.com. They are $9.00 per bottle, so pretty close to the price of the original Essie polishes, and they contain 0.33 fl. ozs. of product. The original Essie bottle holds 0.46 fl. ozs.
Tell me more…
Per Essie’s website, the polishes have an “angled brush that makes it easier to paint with either hand – dominant or non-dominant.” I actually really love the brush, and I do find that it helps eliminate some of the clean up I may typically have to do with the standard rounded brush. The website also states that there are 40 “unconventional colors” that can be “mixed and matched for whatever mood.” Many of their social media posts have highlighted mixing and matching these colors for the perfect skittles mani!
AIR DRY

This beauty is the most perfect slate blue polish!! I did 2 coats here, and it dried within 3 – 4 minutes. I always love when Essie makes these colors. They do such a great job with them. I will be posting some Essie comparisons soon. I’m thinking this may be very similar to Essie Toned Down, As If, Petal Pushers, Once Upon a Time, and Showroom for One. We shall see!
BUSY BEELINE

Next up, we have “Busy Beeline,” a soft “buttery yellow.” This polish did require quite a few coats for full opacity. It took me 3-4 thin coats, but the dry time was so fast that it wasn’t a big deal. This color is so worth the number of coats it took. I don’t have any other yellows in my collection that are this soft. It’s such a nice play on a yellow polish! If you would like to see a comparison of this to other yellows in my collection, let me know in the comments or message me on IG!
ALL THINGS OOO

Another color that Essie does so well is pastel peach, and this one is no exception! “All Things OOO” is a beautiful pastel peach that will look soooo good in the summer with a nice tan. It almost has a neon vibe without being neon if that makes sense. This one, I did need 3-4 coats for full opacity as well, but as I said above, it doesn’t matter with the quick drying time. I’ll compare this one to Essie Excuse Me, Sur, In Full Swing, and Van D’Go. Let me know if you have any other comparison requests!
EXPRESS TO IMPRESS

Another color that Essie does so well…green!! I love these light green polishes for Spring. This is ‘Express to Impress,’ a “mint green with yellow undertones.” I did 2 coats here. The formula is so nice and buttery! As for possible dupes, I think this is probably pretty similar to another fave Essie green, ‘First Timer,’ so I’ll include it in a comparison post for sure!
IN THE TIME ZONE

My new fave pastel pink is…’In the Time Zone!’ This is a lovely blue toned pastel pink. This is 2-3 coats. Beautiful formula to match the beautiful color. I’m sure I have to have some pinks in my collection to match this one. Right off hand I think of “Cascade Cool” since it is also a blue toned pink. I’ll be anxious to see how it compares!
CRAVE THE CHAOS

Essie describes this polish as a “juicy pink.” Juicy indeed!! This polish reminds me of watermelon in the summertime. This is 2 coats of beautifully vibrant pink-ness! It definitely reminds me of another Essie fave pink, Mod Square, and maybe Model Citizen! Loving it.
GET A MAUVE ON

OMG! This purple! This is described as a “smoky purple,” and I’m obsessed. This is 2 coats. Pretty sure I have nothing quite like this in my collection. Sure, I have a ton of purples, but they are either more red toned or darker. This will be going on my list of fave purples.
MISFIT RIGHT IN

GAH!! Wow! This will be on my nails non-stop in the Fall! This is ‘Misfit Right In,’ a gorgeous shimmering bronze! This will also be great to wear in the Summer for that “bronzed goddess” look. This is 2 coats. Lovely formula. I’ve already had several request to compare this to ‘Say it Ain’t Soho’ and ‘Rustworthy,’ so that will be coming soon.
BREAKING THE BOLD

Loving these shimmery Essie Expressie polishes! This is ‘Breaking the Bold,’ a “shimmering dark amethyst purple.” I feel like this one definitely leans more burgundy than purple. It’s such a pretty “glow from within” polish! This is 2 coats, and simply stunning. I would say the closest polish I have to this color is ‘Ace of Shades’ from the Velvet Matte Collection.
TAKE THE ESPRESSO

Holy heavenly chocolatey goodness!! This is THE most perfect chocolate brown ever! This was almost a one coater, but I did 2 here. This is such a rich color, and a must have for sure!! I’m thinking I have another dark brown like this in my collection, but I’ll have to search my polishes because I can’t think of it or find it at the moment!
FINAL THOUGHTS?
Final thoughts? I love these! The colors are fantastic. The drying time is great at about 3-5 minutes. I also love the brush! I have at least 10 more colors of these to post, so that will be in part 2, but overall I’m seriously impressed! I do definitely recommend thin coats only with these. The brush does pick up a lot of polish, so you have to make sure to wipe the extra polish off when pulling it out of the bottle. Once you get the hang of these, you will love them!
I had better wear time with the maybe shade than I have had with anything in ages! I can’t wait to get more shades!
*mauve*!!
Hey Lydia!! The mauve shade is absolutely amazing!! I’m loving all of these. The quick drying time makes such a difference when applying the next coat. Excited to see what else you try!!
