The Essie 2019 Limited Edition Winter Collection has arrived, and it’s full of sparkle and all sorts of glittery goodness!! This is such a festive collection. Nothing says “holiday mani” quite like glitter on your nails! This collection was “inspired by the brilliance of holidays bows” per Essie. Read on for my thoughts on the collection, and to find out my faves!
Let it Bow
‘Let it Bow’ is described as a “snowy white with finely milled metallic white micro glitter/shimmer and scattered iridescent hex glitter.” Wow! That’s a mouthful. Lol. This polish is absolutely stunning. It was so hard to capture just how beautiful this polish really is with my camera and indoor lighting. This is a little sheer. I did 3 coats for full opacity, but you could easily do 1-2 coats for a glitter topper.
Tied and Blue
‘Tied and Blue’ is described as a stunning “sapphire blue polish.” This is 2 coats plus topcoat. This reminded me a lot of a more royal blue version of “Starry Starry Night.” The formula on this one was smooth and lovely to apply. This is definitely one of my faves from this collection!
Knotty or Nice
‘Knotty or Nice’ is described as a “blue-toned red glitter.” This photo is 2 coats plus topcoat. I found that this formula was the most difficult to apply. It was somewhat “chunky” with application if that makes sense. Applying a topcoat helped to smooth it out, but I think I would prefer just a plain Essie red for the holidays. They have so many other reds with exceptional formulas.
Caught on Tape
‘Caught on Tape’ is described as a “warm gold glitter.” This is a beautiful yellow gold. Formula was great on this one. I did 2 coats plus topcoat. I usually prefer golds that are a little less yellow toned, but this is still good for the holidays.
Making Spirits Bright
‘Making Spirits Bright’ is described as a “cool toned silver glitter.” I had to do 3 coats on this one because it is pretty sheer. It would look great with Essie ‘No Place Like Chrome’ as a base, or as a glitter topcoat over any color! I feel like Essie has other silvers that are better than this one, so if you already own other silvers, you’re probably fine to skip this one.
Under Wraps
‘Under Wraps’ is a beautiful “pine green glitter.” This is absolutely 100% the most stunning of them all. So pretty. I did 2 coats plus topcoat here. I’m obsessed with this one! This green is such a perfect green for the holidays! It’s not too dark, but at the same time not too bright. The glitter is really pretty in this one.
So, my overall take on this collection? I’m loving the glitter. I like the more opaque polishes the most, with ‘Under Wraps’ being my absolute fave. My second fave is ‘Tied & Blue,’ then ‘Let it Bow.’ ‘Knotty or Nice’ is pretty, but I found the formula a little bit hard to work with. My least faves are ‘Caught on Tape’ and ‘Making Spirits Bright.’ I feel I have other golds and silvers that I like better than these two.
What are your thoughts? Have you tried them out yet?
