New Year, New Gel Couture!! So excited about this new Essie Gel Couture Collection, Timeless Tweeds! I received this collection compliments of Essie, and was so excited to swatch it. The PR card provided by Essie with the collection states:
This line-up is not what it seams! Take a unique twist on tradition with these not-so-neutral classics, while still staying true to yourself with nudes, browns and pinks. The new Essie Gel Couture Timeless Tweeds create an alluringly tailored ensemble.
Weaving in four creams and two multi-dimensional pearl finishes, these six polished hues will drape your nails in pure sophistication. Inspired by tailoring and glittering threaded details, the Essie Gel Couture Timeless Tweeds displays an unmatched elegance that stands the test of time.
Once again, I always love the thought that Essie puts into their collections. The color names always build a story, and the colors themselves always seem to go so well together. Love it!
Polished and Poised
‘Polished and Poised’ is described as a “white-based pink,” but I would call it more of a warm toned pink. I always love a pastel pink, and this is no exception. This is 2 coats. Great formula. I’ll definitely be anxious to see how this compares to ‘Fiji’ and some of my other pastel pinks! Stay tuned for comparisons!
Not What it Seams
Good lawd, this polish is beautiful!!! This is ‘Not What it Seams,’ a “muted neutral plum.” Seriously, this color is to die for! This is 2 coats – amazing formula! I don’t think I have anything quite like this, but I’m excited to see if some of the polishes you guys suggested are similar. Can’t wait to see!!
Wool Me Over
‘Wool Me Over’ is described as a “creamy taupe.” This may be my least favorite from the collection. I’m not sure how this looks with my skin tone. What do you think? As far as the formula, it was great. This is 2 coats plus topcoat. I’m almost 100% positive I have nothing like this in my collection, but you know I’m going to give it a try!
Woven with Wisdom
You all know I love my pink polishes! This one is so pretty! This is ‘Woven with Wisdom,’ a “blue toned pink.” Blue toned pinks are my absolute fave. This reminds me of Essie ‘Mod Square’ or ‘Model Citizen.’ Expect a comparison of at least those two to this one. Let me know if you think of anything else that may be similar!
Down to the Herringbone
The next polish is an “antique gold” called ‘Down to the Herringbone.’ This is a beautiful polish, but I had read that some people had issues with this needing to be shaken A LOT because the glitter separated from the base color. I noticed a lot of separation with my bottle too. I shook and shook and shook and shook, and got the formula mixed well. It applied well with 3 coats to full opacity. Pretty sure I have a few dupes for this one in my collection that did not need shaken “like a Polaroid Picture.” Lol.
All I Tweed
Ok, so I thought ‘Not What it Seams’ would be my fave, but I think this actually may be my fave! This applied like gold…liquid, smooth gold! This is ‘All I Tweed,’ a “golden mid-tone brown.” This is absolutely lovely. I wasn’t excited to swatch this at all, but I love it!! Definitely recommend this one!
FINAL THOUGHTS?
I actually wasn’t super excited about all the polish colors in this collection. Some of them just seemed kinda ‘meh’ when I first saw them. I was excited to swatch ‘Not What it Seams’ because it looked similar to ‘Angora Cardi,’ but I wasn’t excited about the browns and golds. I was pleasantly surprised by one of the browns though. ‘All I Tweed’ is my absolute fave from this collection! It’s just so good, and the formula is absolutely golden! Next would be ‘Not What it Seams,’ followed by ‘Woven with Wisdom’ and ‘Polished and Poised.’ My least faves were ‘Down to the Herringbone’ and ‘Wool Me Over.’
These polishes can be purchased at most beauty destinations. I have seen them in a few drugstores around Seattle. They retail at $11.50 per bottle and are considered to be long lasting polishes that can last up to 14 days. I never wear one polish for that long, so I am not one to ask about the longevity, but I have heard of these lasting more than 1 week without chipping on some followers. I love using these with the Platinum Grade Finish Top Coat by Essie. Let me know your thoughts, and stay tuned for comparisons!
