Today I am reviewing the new Essie Gel Couture Pattern Play Collection. This is a 6 piece Collection that I purchased from Ulta Beauty. The collection is inspired by the bold colors in classic 70’s patterns. All 6 polishes are cream finishes that apply beautifully. Read on for swatch photos, or watch online for live swatches and comparisons.
Totally Plaid
First of all, we have ‘Totally Plaid.’ ‘Totally Plaid’ is a “neutral olive green with yellow undertones.” This beauty was opaque in 2 very easy coats. Check out the video to see how this compares to other greens such as Essie ‘Willow in the Wind‘ and ‘Win Me Over.’
All Checked Out
Next up is one of my faves from the collection. ‘All Checked Out’ is a “creamy raisin brown with purple and blue undertones.” This polish is so shiny on its own, without a topcoat. It is such a pleasure to apply, and is opaque in 2 coats.
Electric Geometric
This beauty is so bright! The brightness is not showing up as accurately in the photo as I had hoped. ‘Electric Geometric’ is a vibrant coral that is perfect for all seasons. Check out the video comparisons to see how it comparisons to other corals.
Paisley All the Way
Next, we have another fave of mine from this collection. ‘Paisley All the Way’ is an “intense purple with vibrant blue undertones.” This is another polish that is so shiny. It applies like glass, and is opaque in 2 coats. I highly recommend picking this one up if you’re a purple polish fan!
Fab Florals
Next up, we have ‘Fab Florals,’ a “rich amber brown with red undertones.” This polish screams fall. The application is fantastic, and I definitely recommend picking this one up to wear every Fall!
Chevron Trend
Lastly, we have a gorgeous “deep and saturated magenta cream.” ‘Chevron Trend’ is a one coat wonder, and is a must have blue toned red. It’s really difficult to show red comparisons and their differences, but check out the video to see how this compares to other reds.
Final Thoughts?
I definitely feel like this is more of a Fall than Winter release, but I get the 70’s inspiration and the color choices. I do feel that there are some must haves from the Essie Gel Couture Pattern Play Collection. My top 3 are ‘Chevron Trend,’ ‘Paisley All the Way’ and ‘All Checked Out.’ I really do love them all though. Let me know which polishes are your faves! Oh, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
