HAPPY FRIDAY, friends!!!! Hope you all have had an amazing week!! Today, I have the Essie Expressie Speed of Life comparisons for you. Who else is obsessed with this collection? It was so much fun going through my polishes to see how they all compared! Below is my live swatch and review video. Read on for comparisons!
Expresso Double Shot
Ok, so fun fact…I’m actually holding ‘Don’t be Latte’ in this first photo…not purposely. I usually like to hold the bottle of the polish I’m comparing. Anywho, you can see here that ‘Expresso Double Shot’ is slightly more of a cool toned brown compared to the more khaki shades of ‘Midday Expresso’ and ‘Don’t be Latte.’
And here we have the requested ‘Mink Muffs’ to compare, along with ‘Easily Suede.’ After seeing the cooler tones in the first comparison, I thought a more grayed out brown would be a dupe, but ‘Easily Suede’ is even more gray. ‘Mink Muffs’ is a much darker, more chocolate brown, as you can see in the photo. How can there be so many variations of brown?!?
On to the Next
On to the next polish, ‘On to the Next!!’ Lol! This is a beautiful baby pink that I was sure I had a dupe for. You can see above that ‘Romper Room’ is a shade or two lighter, while ‘Crop, Top & Roll’ is a bit more peach.
Although these two shades above are not dupes, I would say they are closer. ‘Stirring Secrets’ and ‘Talk to the Sand’ are both brighter and less pink though. The differences are more apparent in person than they are here in the photo.
And then we have it compared to ‘Go Go Geisha.’ I would say that ‘Go Go’ is the more mauve cousin to ‘On to the Next.’
Clock In
Love, love, love me some light gray polish, and this one is no exception. ‘Press Pause’ was my fave gray ever, and ‘Clock In’ ranks right up there with it. I would say that if you have ‘Press Pause,’ you don’t necessarily need ‘Clock In,’ unless you’re searching for a true ‘almost white’ gray. ‘Cabana Boy’ has more of a pearly finish than the other two.
Speed of Life
When I first saw ‘Speed of Life,’ I immediately thought of ‘Chillato.’ It is pretty close, but a tad more muted. It definitely has a better formula than ‘Chillato’ though. For that reason, I definitely recommend. It was interesting to see how much more yellow ‘Busy Bee-line’ is over ‘Speed of Life.’
Definitely no dupes above. Compared next to ‘Zip Me Up’ and ‘Absolutely Shore,’ ‘Speed of Life’ looks much more yellow!
Energized & Wise
This was a fun comparison to do! I feel like Essie has been coming out with so many of these pretty fall colored oranges lately! I thought that ‘Kaf-tan’ from the Summer Collection may be close, but it was much more brown in the bottle so I didn’t swatch it. ‘Tart Deco’ was also much brighter, so I chose not to swatch that one either.
Of the polishes I DID swatch, ‘Desk Mani’ is the most similar, but still a different shade of orange. Surprisingly, I have no dupes for ‘Energized & Wise.’
Re-Charge to Take Charge
Another polish that I was SURE I had a dupe for, but nothing. ‘Air Dry’ is much more blue, while ‘Toned Down’ is more gray. I searched for ‘Mooning’ because I was pretty sure that would compare, but it was a different tone of blue. ‘The Best-est’ and ‘Indi-go for It!’ (not pictured) were also more gray.
In the Fast Lane
Love me some dark green polishes, especially for Fall. Some of these polishes were fairly close! I would say that ‘No Time for Local’ and ‘Power Clutch’ (pictured below) are almost close enough to call dupes. ‘Power Clutch’ is a pretty old polish, but ‘No Time for Local’ was recently released with the original Essie Expressie Collection. They all have great formulas, so pick a green…any green. 🙂
High Energy, Low Stress
Another interesting comparison! I was pretty sure this would be an exact dupe for ‘Bedrock n Roll’ from the Rocky Rose Collection. That’s not the case though. ‘High Energy…’ actually is more of a brown toned red than ‘Bedrock…’ That led me to believe it may be super close to ‘Playing Koi,’ BUT believe it or not, it is more brown even than ‘Playing Koi!’ ‘…Koi’ actually looks red compared to ‘High Stress…’ Totally surprised me!!
So Matcha Energy
LOVE this polish so much!! I knew I had no dupes for this one. You can see above some much older polishes that are somewhat similar, but definitely not dupes. Not surprised here!!
Final Thoughts?
I was definitely surprised to see that there were not as many dupes to the polishes in the Essie Expressie Speed of Life Collection as I had originally thought. The polishes that have the closest dupes are ‘Clock In’ and ‘In the Fast Lane.’ What are your thoughts on this collection, and which polishes do you think you will be picking up?
