Hey friends! Hope you all are doing well! As promised, I have some more Essie Expressie Comparisons for you! Today, I will be comparing polishes to ‘Air Dry,’ ‘Crave the Chaos,’ ‘Express to Impress,’ ‘Lose the Snooze,’ and ‘Busy Bee-line.’ I had so much fun going through my polishes to find comparisons!! I will also have a review of these 5 polishes on my YouTube this weekend.
Air Dry
‘Air Dry’ is a beautiful slate blue polish. When I first saw this polish, I immediately thought there HAD to be an exact dupe, but I don’t think so. Essie has so many of these slate blue/gray polishes. I’d say the two closest in my collection are ‘Toned Down,’ a “steel gray with cobalt undertones, and ‘Showroom for One,’ another blue toned gray. ‘Petal Pushers’ is a little lighter and less blue toned. I also compared the bottles of ‘Once Upon a Time’ and ‘As If,’ but they both leaned a little more purple. Technically, I would say if you have ‘Showroom’ and ‘Toned Down,’ you don’t necessarily need ‘Air Dry.’ BUT it dries so fast, so yes you do. Lol!
Crave the Chaos
Ok, so when I first swatched ‘Crave the Chaos,’ I thought of ‘Mod Square’ immediately. When I swatched them next to each other, though, ‘Mod’ was much brighter, as was ‘The Fuchsia is Bright.’ ‘Watermelon’ was way off as you can see in the photo. I also checked the bottles of ‘Model Citizen’ and ‘Woven with Wisdom,’ but they were a different shade of pink. How is it possible to have so many shades of pink that are not the same?!?! Let me know if you have any Essie pinks that you think may compare!
Express to Impress
OOOOH! Love me some green polishes!! ‘Express to Impress’ is a “mint green with yellow undertones.” The closest polish in my collection is ‘Skal,’ a gorgeous green that I was able to get my hands on from a Swedish friend! ‘Can Dew Attitude’ from the Essie Spring Collection doesn’t even come close to comparing. It’s so much lighter. I thought ‘First Timer’ may be closer than it was, but it was much more of a true green. I compared the bottles of ‘Mojito Madness’ and ‘Fashion Playground,’ but they were different shades of green as well. No dupes here!
Lose the Snooze
‘Lose the Snooze’ was a polish I HAD to have! I love this shade of blue! It is an ‘iris blue’ polish that somehow glows on your nails. This was a tough one to find a dupe for. ‘Anchor Down’ is much more of a navy blue, while ‘Pret-a-Surfer’ and ‘Suite Retreat’ were a little more purple. Definitely recommend picking this one up!
Busy Bee-line
I can’t believe how many yellow polishes I now have in my collection. I compared the following bottles to Essie ‘Busy Bee-line,’ but no dupes: Essie ‘Avant Garde,’ ‘Feeling Wellies,’ ‘Check Your Baggage,’ and ‘Hay There.’ OPI ‘Don’t Tell a Sol’ was a much brighter yellow in the bottle. You can see above that ‘Bee-line’ is much more of a pastel yellow, but no dupes here! It’s actually interesting how ‘Bee-line’ has almost a peach tone here, but compared to ‘Feeling Wellies,’ looks so much more yellow.
Here is a comparison that I posted on my instagram of ‘Busy Bee-line’ to some of the other new Essie yellows…
Final Thoughts?
I love the Essie Expressie polishes, so I totally think you could justify buying them despite having any possible dupes in your collection. I feel like the one that is easiest to dupe in this group is ‘Air Dry.’ I will be posting more comparisons as I get them ready, so I’m sure there will be other dupes. Let me know if you have any specific Essie Expressie comparisons you would like to see for the rest of the collection. You can check out more comparisons on the Expressie rose polishes here.
