Happy Sunday Funday!!! With Valentine’s Day coming this Friday, I had to do a review and some swatches of the new Essie 2020 Valentine’s Day Collection! Last year was the first year that Essie did this adorable wrapping over the bottles for this holiday, and I love it! They’re so fun, and are definitely perfect for collectors.
Talk Sweet to Me
“Talk Sweet to Me” is such a perfect pink!! I say that about so many pinks, but I don’t really have any pinks quite like this in my collection. The formula is perfect. This is 2 coats plus Seche Vite Dry Fast Topcoat. It’s described as a “rosy pink,” and that is the perfect description.
Unwrap Me
Wow! This was the polish that initially excited me about this collection! This is “Unwrap Me,” a beautiful “magenta metallic foil!” This polish is a one coat wonder. Absolutely perfect formula. So easy to apply. It’s stunning!
Don’t Be Choco-late
I love that Essie threw some darker colors into this collection! This 100 percent reminds me of chocolate! I love the red undertones in it, and could totally see myself wearing this in the Fall as well! “Don’t Be Choco-late” is a one coater, and is described as a “mid tone brown.”
Piece, Love & Chocolate
“Piece, Love & Chocolate” is my absolute fave from this collection! This polish looks like just any old pink foil polish, but it really is so much more in person. This polish glows from within. Another one coat wonder. Obsessed!
Surprise & Delight
Another polish where the photo does it no justice! “Surprise & Delight” is a “metallic foil red,” and is another one coat wonder! Super smooth and easy to apply!!
Love-Fate Relationship
“Love-Fate Relationship” is a “dark cherry red” polish. This was probably my least favorite formula. This took 3 coats to full opacity, but it’s still a very pretty polish!
Final Thoughts?
The metallic foils in this collection are absolute must haves! They all glow from within, and have amazing formulas. “Talk Sweet to Me” is also such a perfect rosy pink that will flatter any skin tone. As I said above, “Don’t Be Choco-late” is also a polish that would be a great addition to anybody’s collection. It’s the perfect red toned brown. If you’re not a fan of applying more than 2 coats of polish, I would say skip “Love-Fate Relationship.” Essie has quite a few polishes that are similar in color, and are opaque in fewer coats.
These polishes are available for purchase online for $6.75 at Beyond Polish, and in stores at Ulta, Target and select drugstores for $9-10. What polishes did you, or do you plan on, picking up? What are your V-day plans?!?
