The new Essie “Odd Squad” Collection is now available on Amazon (affiliate link), and I’m sure it will most likely be available in various stores in the U.S. soon. This is the first release for 2024 and I have thoughts. The colors individually are fabulous, but the collection as a whole is not the most cohesive. I guess maybe that’s why they called it the “Odd Squad” Collection. Keep reading for descriptions and swatch photos or watch the video below for live swatches and comparisons.
Mismatch to Match
First up, we have ‘Mismatch to Match,’ a beautiful “warm raisin taupe with red and brown undertones.” This polish is an absolute stunner and is one of favorites from this collection. ‘Mismatch to Match’ definitely looks very different depending on the lighting, so make sure you check out my video to see the different lighting swatches.
Pretty Peculiar
“Perfectly Peculiar” is a ‘bright minty green with blue undertones.’ I absolutely loooove the color, but I had some issues with the formula. Maybe I got a bad bottle? A new one is on its way so I will keep you posted because I haven’t heard of anyone else having issues with this polish.
Offbeat Chic
‘Offbeat Chic’ is another absolute beauty from this collection. This is a “vibrant cyan blue with yellow undertones.” When I first saw this polish, I was sure it was a dupe to Essie ‘Hyperlinked.’ Make sure to check out my video to see how it compares. Formula on this one was absolutely fabulous!
Not a Phase
‘Not a Phase’ is a gorgeous deep red that look absolutely stunning on the nail. This polish applied like butter and is a 1-2 coater. It’s a must have and another fave from this collection.
Odd Squad
‘Odd Squad’ is another fave from this collection. This is a “rich coffee brown with red undertones.” I really don’t see much red in this polish. It really is a true deep, dark, rich brown. The formula on this one was absolutely to die for and I think this polish is a must have for all skin tones!
Never Basic
‘Never Basic’ is a “muted soft coral with red and neutral undertones.” I’m not a fan of shades like this on my skin tone, but the formula is absolutely fabulous if you like shades like this. It’s a gorgeous polish to transition from winter to spring.
Final Thoughts?
What do you think of the new Essie Odd Squad Collection? I definitely think it’s an “odd” collection of colors, but I definitely think you will find at least one of these polishes that you are drawn to. Which one is it? Let me know in the comments and stay tuned for more nail polish reviews!
