Today, I’m reviewing the new Essie Expressie Sk8 with Destiny Collection. This is a 10 piece collection that is currently available on Amazon. (affiliate link) Six of the polishes are also currently available on Ulta’s website. There is a mix of cream and jelly finishes in this collection, and they’re all perfect for transitioning from Winter to Spring. If you’re interested in swatch photos, keep scrolling. Ready to see some major comparisons and live swatches? Check out the video below.
Daily Grind
The first polish, ‘Daily Grind,’ is a “dusty eggshell white with yellow undertones. ‘Daily Grind’ was opaque in 2 – 3 coats, and is a must have off white. It can lean somewhat green in some lighting, which I thought was interesting. I compared it to about 15 other polishes from my collection, so check out the video to see if you may have a dupe.
Keepin’ It Wheel
Next up is ‘Keepin’ it Wheel,’ a “dusty baby pink with blue undertones.” This was another 2 – 3 coater and will be perfect for Spring. When I first saw this, I immediately thought of ‘Go Go Geisha’ or ‘Throw it On’ by Essie. They did turn out to be very slightly different though.
Trick Clique
One of my faves from this collection! ‘Trick Clique’ is a super bright, fun cool toned pink that was opaque in 2 coats. Wow! This one is an absolute must have if you’re searching for the perfect bright pink for summer.
Just for Kicks
Another fave from this collection, ‘Just for Kicks’ is a perfect “soft gray with green undertones.” This was opaque in two coats. I was sure I had a dupe for this one, but not necessarily. The polishes I compared it to were lighter, more blue, dustier or darker…believe it or not.
Bearer of Rad News
Next up is my least favorite from the collection. ‘Bearer of Rad News’ is an “electric orange with red undertones.” This polish does have a jelly/crelly formula, and took 3 coats to reach full opacity. I’m starting to wonder if I’m just not an orange polish fan, but I do feel like I love some oranges.
Curbside Pick Me Up
Another polish that was just okay to me was ‘Curbside Pick Me Up.’ It’s an absolutely gorgeous yellow, but the formula wasn’t my favorite. It seemed like it was sort of too thick. Maybe it was just my bottle, or maybe it’s just because it’s a yellow. I feel like yellows often have a thicker formula for some reason.
Sk8 with Destiny
Another absolute fave! ‘Sk8 with Destiny’ is the namesake of the collection, and is a stunning “bright lilac with blue undertones.” This is a 2 coater and is an absolute must have. Of course I had to compare it to Essie ‘Bikini So Teeny,’ but they are not dupes.
Left on Shred
Dark blues have been everywhere recently, and this one is just as gorgeous as the rest. ‘Left on Shred’ is a “deep navy blue with red undertones.” This stunner is a 1 – 2 coater, and is a gem to apply.
Streetwear N’ Tear
‘Streetwear N’ Tear’ is a must have!!! This is a gorgeous “kelly green with blue undertones,” and it applies like butter. I compared it to ‘Stripes & Sails’ by Essie, and it is very close. That polish is very hard to find, so this is a great replacement.
All Ramped Up
Finally, we have ‘All Ramped Up,’ a “deep plum with yellow undertones.” I don’t really get the yellow undertones in this one. It didn’t really even seem warm toned to me. Either way, it’s gorgeous and so shiny even without a topcoat.
Final Thoughts?
What are your thoughts on the new Essie Expressie Sk8 with Destiny Collection? Have you tried out the Essie Expressie line yet? I love the line. The only complaint I have is the brush, and not the fact that it’s bent. The angle of the brush is nice, and I don’t mind applying polish with it. My primary complaint is that the bristles of the brush are often very uneven. This has occurred on more than one occasion. Let me know if you have noticed the same.
Have a great week!!!
