Coffee and Seattle just go together. When you think of Seattle, what do you think of…besides rain? Coffee!! I have had some of the best coffee since moving here. I’m definitely not a coffee expert by any means. I don’t drink plain espresso or black coffee. I can’t pick out the “notes” in coffee. I like some coffee with my vanilla syrup, if ya know what I mean? I also still love a good Pumpkin Spice Latte…because I’m “basic.” Lol!
Starbucks PSL aside, I love the experience of drinking coffee, the visual appeal of latte art, AND people watching in a fun cafe.
Below are a few of my faves I’ve found so far. There will surely be many more to come!
Storyville Coffee
This is my fave in Seattle! They have 4 locations, but my fave location is Pike Place. I know you’re probably going to visit Pike Place if you come to Seattle, so make sure to check out Storyville! They are on the top floor of the Corner Market building at First & Pike. There is no place I would rather be on a chilly, gloomy day. Their coffee is super tasty! They also serve pastries and a few other food items. My fave is the Pesto Breakfast sandwich.
The ambiance at Storyville is next level! It’s the perfect place to get away from the hustle & bustle of Pike Place.
If you’re looking for a spot for some cool photos, it definitely is an instagrammable coffee spot!
Zoka Coffee
Zoka Coffee in Greenlake is another fave coffee spot. My go-to drink here is the Lavender Mocha Latte. It’s to die for, and is so pretty!!
I love the Zoka in Greenlake because it’s roomy and has plenty of seating. It’s also easy to find free parking here, so that’s a definite plus! Zoka has a few other locations – one in Kirkland, and 2 other locations in Seattle. Highly recommend! They definitely have some instagrammable lattes if that’s what you’re in the mood for!
Slate Coffee Roasters
My absolute fave coffee drink I’ve had since moving here was from Slate Coffee Roasters near Pioneer Square. It was a seasonal drink called “The Royal Treatment,” made up of espresso, peppermint syrup, chocolate ganache and milk. They topped it with house-made vanilla whipped cream. It was absolutely DELISH!!
Slate is also famous for their “deconstructed latte,” which is a traditional latte broken down into 3 glasses: a shot of espresso, a glass of milk, & a latte “as you’ve always known it.” I haven’t tried that yet, but I hope to get back soon to check it out…with some added sugar. Lol!
Espresso Vivace
Espresso Vivace has two locations in the Capitol Hill Neighborhood and one in South Lake Union. There is a sidewalk bar and flagship cafe in Capitol Hill. I’ve been to the flagship location 3 – 4 times since moving here, and love the vibe. It’s nice and quiet, with plenty of room. The employees are super cool, and the coffee is amazing.
Espresso Vivace is known for inventing latte art, and it is clear when visiting the cafe that they know their art!
Moore’s
Speaking of latte art, how cute is this? Moore Coffee Shop has 3 locations in the greater Seattle area. The original location is on 2nd Avenue, not far from Pike Place Market. This location is known for their latte art as well as their breakfast waffles, so make sure you’re hungry. They have some pretty amazing drinks such as the Crema de Leche Latte and the Nutella Mocha! Ummmmm…What? Nutella Mocha? OMG! What more could you ask for? Maybe a little more room…this cafe is super tiny, but totally worth it!
Elm Coffee Roasters
Last, but not least, is Elm Coffee Roasters. There are 2 locations in the Seattle area, one in Pioneer Square, the other in South Lake Union. If you go to the Pioneer Square location, go in the daylight. Lol. It’s not the best area of Seattle to be in, but was fine in the daytime…with my hubby by my side.
We went on a Sunday, and there were only a few others there. It’s a super cute cafe, and I ordered a vanilla late. It was super tasty. There was also plenty of room, and the employees were super friendly.

No matter where you go for coffee in Seattle, it WILL be an experience. Seattle takes their coffee seriously, and it’s always an added bonus when it’s made “pretty” as well. Whether you like sweet, syrup-y drinks or straight espresso, there is something for everyone.
